Right off the bat you might be thinking, “why would you need an air fryer to make such an easy recipe?“. The answer: preheating an oven.

While it seems like nothing, we all know that an oven preheats at what seems like a snails pace. It’s right up there with boiling water, am I right?

The air fryer allows you to skip that preheated oven nonsense. No more waiting on the toast while your main course sits and waits impatiently.

This easy garlic bread recipe in the air fryer is incredibly delicious with so many main dishes. Our favorites are Italian meals such as baked zitislow cooker lasagna, and easy chicken cannelloni.

This air fried cheesy garlic bread recipe will forever change the method you make this perfect side dish.

Why You’ll Love this Recipe:

  • SUPER EASY – This best garlic bread is made in minutes, with no waiting on a preheating oven. Much faster to make than even easy focaccia bread.
  • VERSATILE This air fryer garlic bread with sliced bread means you can use ANY bread. In fact, there’s so many variations to make it your own.
  • MAKE IT AHEAD –  Freeze and air fry later so you always have some on hand.

Ingredients and Notes

ingredients on a table to make garlic toast in an air fryer such as a french baguette loaf, cloves of garlic, shredded cheese and fresh parsley.
  • Fresh Baguette – I like to use a French bread loaf because it gets crusty on the outside, and is soft on the inside. Yet, you can also use texas toast, Italian bread, ciabatta, or sourdough if you wish.
  • Butter – Real butter is creamy and full of flavor. I like to use unsalted butter yet feel free to use salted butter if that’s what you hand on hand,
  • Fresh Garlic – Fresh minced garlic has the best taste, and sometimes I do use the jarred stuff for convenience, even in my Homemade Alfredo Sauce. You can use garlic powder if needed.
  • Cheese – I like to use both grated parmesan cheese and cheddar cheese. They take this garlic toast to the next level. Yet, this is optional of course, or even add more if you want it extra cheesy.
  • Fresh Parsley – Adds that nice touch of flavor and color. Fresh is always best, yet use dried parsley if you need to.

Recipe Variations

  • Add Herbs – add a teaspoon of finely chopped rosemary, thyme, or basil to the butter-garlic mixture.
  • Make it Spicy by incorporating a pinch of crushed red pepper flakes or a sprinkle of cayenne pepper into the garlic-butter mixture.
  • Experiment with different cheese combinations. Try using a blend of mozzarella, fontina, and Gruyere cheeses in place of the cheddar and Parmesan.

Tips for Success

  • Choose a fresh French baguette for the best results. The texture of the bread will be at its prime, with a crispy crust and soft interior.
  • When slicing the baguette, aim for slices that are approximately 1/2 inch thick. Try to maintain consistency in the thickness of the slices to ensure even cooking.
  • Air fryers can vary in temperature and cooking times, so keep an eye on the garlic bread as it cooks, just like when you make air fryer chicken bites.
  • Avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket. Arrange the garlic bread slices in a single layer, leaving some space between them. This allows the hot air to circulate evenly, ensuring even browning and crispiness.

How to Quickly Soften Butter

Add hot water to a tall glass. Dump out the water and put the butter in, then cover the top of the glass. The heated glass will soften the butter.
