If there’s one constant winter after winter – it’s the use of my slow cooker. Also known as ‘my saviour’, this small appliance fits perfectly with my busy schedule and tackles the majority of the work for me so I can tend to other things in my day.

How to Make Slow Cooker Orange Chicken

You’ll need the following ingredients to make this easy recipe that takes so good you’ll swear its chinese takeout. The full instructions and easy steps to make it (with such little prep time), are below in the printable recipe card.

  • boneless skinless chicken thighs, or boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • all purpose flour
  • sweet orange marmalade
  • bbq Sauce
  • low-sodium soy sauce
  • ginger root
  • garlic powder
  • 1black pepper
  • green onions,
  • sesame seeds

To Make: Toss chicken with flour and place chicken in a large bowl. Add remaining ingredients; toss to coat. Transfer to slow cooker; cover with lid.

Cook on LOW 6 to 8 hours (or on HIGH 3 to 4 hours). Remove chicken from slow cooker with a slotted spoon and cut into desired pieces. Then add chicken pieces back into the crock pot and cook with the lid off for another 20 minutes.

Serve this slow cooker meal over white rice or brown rice. Top with chopped green onions and sesame seeds. Enjoy!

Ingredients 

  • 3 lb boneless skinless chicken thighs
  • 1/3 cup flour
  • 1 cup Orange Marmalade
  • 1 cup BBQ Sauce
  • 1/3 cup low-sodium soy sauce

Instructions

  1. Hi, I love this recipe use it all the time but I did change one thing i use half chicken half pork its so easy and so so good TY

  2. This didn’t taste like orange chicken at all. I followed the recipe but all I could taste was BBQ sauce. My boyfriend liked and it did taste okay, but I was going more for an orange flavor and not a bbq, as I’m not a huge fan of bbq sauce. Maybe next attempt I’ll exclude the bbq or put way less.

  3. Still tasted great, but I wound up adding the green onion and sesame seeds to the crock pot when I read “add remaining ingredients…”

    I have made similar mistakes with other recipes when I don’t read them through once first.

    Moral of the story: Read all the way through the recipe before beginning to cook.
