Over the holiday break, we had a terrible cold snap which forced us indoors more than we’d have liked.
Yet, the house all warm and the need for comfort just meant that I spent a lot of time in the kitchen making new recipes {and updating old ones with prettier new images}.
You’ll see an influx of recipes posted here for the next few weeks, since a lot of the recipes I tried were winners and dare worthy of sharing.

Roasted Parmesan Green Beans is one example! I make green beans as a meal side dish quite often, yet wanted to try a new twist on a favourite.
Usually I steam or boil green beans and then lightly toss with butter, salt and pepper before serving.
This is an especially perfect side dish to go along with my Beat Meatloaf ever recipe, or our Stove Top Stuffing Stuffed Chicken Breasts.
Yet one day I craved something newish for one of my favourite vegetables sides.
These best green beans are also a relatively healthy side dish.
I had some parmesan left over from a pasta dish I made earlier in the week, along with some panko crumbs from crispy chicken for lunchtime wraps.
I’m trying to get better at using up ingredients, far too often I use them for one sole reason then they go to waste.
So, these became staples for this new green bean side dish recipe!
Roasted Parmesan Green Beans is easy peasy to make and the taste is fab. Baking with these few ingredients gives it a bit of a crunch.

How to make Roasted Parmesan Green Beans
You’ll need the following handful of ingredients to make this easy parmesan green bean recipe.

- fresh green beans
- olive oil
- grated parmesan cheese
- panko bread crumbs
- kosher salt
- black pepper
To Make: Pre heat oven to 400 degrees, and line a large rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.
Combine all the ingredients including the fresh beans into a large mixing bowl and toss to coat evenly.
Spread the green bean mixture onto the prepared baking sheet, in a single layer or even layer.
Bake for a cooking time of 16-20 minutes in the preheated oven, stirring the baking tray half-way through the cook times.
This easy side dish is done when the delicious fresh green beans can be pierced with a fork and when it has crispy crumbs.
Parmesan Roasted Green Beans Tips:
- Do not over bake or you’ll have mushy green beans.
- If your grocery store only has yellow string beans, those will be fine.
- Overlap as little as possible for even cooking.
This side dish goes with so many main course meals, and will replace your boiled basic green beans as a more tasty and elegant side dish.
While my kids aren’t picky eater, I can see how this recipe would entice those that usually turn up the nose at the sight of green beans.

Roasted Parmesan Green Beans
Ingredients
- 1 lb fresh green beans
- 4 tbsp olive oil
- 4 tbsp grated parmesan cheese
- 4 tbsp panko bread crumbs
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp pepper
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees, and line a baking sheet with parchment paper
- Combine all ingredients to a large mixing bowl and toss to coat
- spread green beans and mixture onto baking sheet, overlap as little as possible
- Bake for 16-20 minutes or until green beans can be pierced with a fork and crumbs crisp up – stirring half-way.Â

I really like the sound of these green beans. Usually we just boil them without salt or anything else. We will give this recipe a try and very soon.

What a yummy way to jazz up green beans. My kids would like the panko crumbs and gobble these up.
What a great idea to roast the beans, and to use the panko. I also have a box of it sitting in my cupboard, for the one recipe that calls for it. I need to start getting a bit more creative as well!
When I first seen these I thought the bread crumbs were like bacon bits! What an easy delicious recipe!! thanks so much green beans are a favorite here and it’s always nice to be able to prepare them in different ways.. some of us do get tired of them after awhile lol.
