Taco Lettuce Wraps
Taco night is always one of my favourite nights for a meal. And no, that isn’t necessarily on a Tuesday either – because, tacos. *drool*
If you are searching for healthier taco alternatives, also make sure to check out Pepper Stuffed Tacos. YUM!
When making ours, I have always had both hard shell and soft shell on hand for the kids to choose from. For myself, I have a low-carb option on most occasions by omitting the shell.
Lately my girls have asked for a no-shell variety too, after sneaking tastes of mine as curious kids do – and obviously loving it. So one night I made a couple of low-carb varieties – one being Taco Lettuce Wraps!
I kind of feel silly doing an entire recipe post for Taco Lettuce Wraps because it’s simply your favourite taco ingredients inside a romaine leaf boat.
In fact, you can alter my recipe to suit your preference, whether that be type of cheese, the addition of avocado or beans etc.
It’s one of the most super simple of recipes yet soooo tasty. I think the mind-trick is the crunch of the lettuce leaf, to me it’s so similar to having a hard-shelled taco.
Healthy eating is easy with recipes like this one. Plus, talk about a fast dinner – you can have this one on the table in minutes.
I have grown to crave lettuce wrapped foods {yes I’m one to wrap my burgers in lettuce on occasion and skip the bun} so there’s no question as to how much I love this recipe. My kids? Well, they quickly gobbled these up in no time and promptly asked when the next taco night would be.
I love a winner of a dinner – and varying up the usual is always a good thing. Even beloved tacos!
Another idea for your Mexican night dinner is these Easy Chicken Enchiladas. One of my favourite recipes of all time!

VERY HEALTHY VERSION
Is it 1/4 cup of taco seasoning? I just wanted to double check. :O)
Tammi, These wraps look fabulous, so tasty and light! Looking forward to discovering more of your recipes. These look perfect for Summer, that’s what I seem to be seeking out today on your site… thanks! Just stumbled upon your site… I love it! :O)
Yep, I find less is kinda tasteless {perhaps it depends on brand though} and I like mine with that great taco-taste. Adjust this if you wish – I know sometimes people use less/more meat so adjust away if you need to! Cheers to summer, thanks for taking the time to comment! 🙂
Is the nutrition facts per wrap or what is the serving size?? Not sure if i missed that piece of info or if it’s actually not on there.
I did make this, did make some very small changes, but otherwise very delicious!!
Per wrap as best as I could get it. People will stuff their desired amounts into each, more or less on preference and size of lettuce – so it’s a rough gauge but that’s the best I could do! 🙂
