Oftentimes the best recipes are the ones that are passed down.

This particular cookie recipe is from my husbands parents. Actually, my MIL’s Mom got it from a friend long ago.

It’s still made today by my FIL, he’s come over many times through the years with a tin of these wonderful cookies, to which we all devour obviously.

They are literally the best – in this world. I repeat, the best Oatmeal Raisin Cookies IN THIS WORLD!

I never considered these types of cookies one of my favourite type of cookie, I’ve had too many that were dry. Why this recipe rocks? As long as you don’t over cook them, they are chewy. Incredibly delicious!!

I love that I always have all the ingredients on hand: brown sugar, butter, eggs, rolled oats, vanilla, flour, raisins, baking soda and water.

I pay no attention to perfecting the drop size of the batter when placing into the pan. The outcome is cookies that are mismatched and imperfect in size – yet each one perfect in every way that counts.

This batch make a couple dozen, again depending on drop size {alter baking time if you make them small please, you really don’t want to overcook these}.

ENJOY!!

  3. Oatmeal raisin cookies are some of my husbands favorite! My tip is to soak the raisins in the the egg and vanilla mixture for an hour before combining all ingredients, this really gives the raisins a punch of vanilla flavor (and softens the raisins).
