Tater Tot Casserole Recipe
This is the best Tater Tot Casserole ever. It’s a fun recipe that is easy to make and a one-dish meal that is most definitely kid-approved!

Do you have any other favourite casserole dishes that even your picky eaters enjoy? Why not try my Tater Tot Enchilada Casserole, it’s a Mexican tater tot casserole for those that like to kick up their meals.
This Pecan Pumpkin Pie French Toast Casserole, this one is perfect for brunches! For another dinner idea, try this Chicken and Spinach casserole, so ideal for dinners as well.
‘Casserole’ used to be a very bad word in my house, according to my then picky kids.
They were very particular with casseroles, most likely stemming from their tendency to stick their nose up at vegetables – and especially ones that are mixed together.

So, I made Tater Tot Casserole one night, just to show them that they can get excited about the term.
After all, how could you not when it involves the ever popular and kid-approved crispy tater tots.
They gobbled this up so fast, without one complaint. It’s so nice when I make a meal that everyone loves. Right moms?
I like this easy casserole recipe for being a family favorite, and unique. This is not your moms standard casserole, yet I bet she wished she made it.

Ingredients Required
You’ll need the following simple ingredients to make this casserole dish:
- ground beef (you may also use ground turkey if you wish)
- onion, finely chopped
- can cream of mushroom soup
- milk
- frozen vegetables {peas, carrots, corn, green beans} or your preference
- Shredded Cheddar Cheese
- frozen tater tots
How to Make Tater Tot Casserole
- Heat oven to 375 degrees. Brown the ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat to medium-high heat.
- When cooked and drained, spoon the ground meats into a casserole dish sprayed with olive oil.
- In a large bowl, mix the soup and milk, then pour over the ground beef mixture (add a bit of garlic powder and black pepper if you’d like).
- Top with layers of the remaining ingredients, and end with reserved cheese on top of the tater tots which should be in a single layer.
- Then you bake in the oven for 45 minutes, or until it’s heated through and the tater tots are golden brown.

This canned soup casserole isn’t a recipe we have on the weekly roll, but it’s nice now and then, very treat-like! It’s simple to make, bake and cleanup is a breeze.
This best tater tot casserole recipe is one of those meals I go-to when I know we need a win in our day. Not to mention, so very delicious!
Plus, it’s a nice way to change things up rather than serving plain tater tots.
I used to only use them for the usual bake and serve side dish, so it’s nice to have dinner ideas with tater tots aside form the usual.
This is also a great recipe for leftover tater tots!
I love that you can make this ahead of time, so all the prep is done when you arrive home and you just have to bake for under an hour and have a hot dish.
I sure do appreciate easy dinners like this one, on those busy weeknights.
Leftover are amazing too, as long as you don’t microwave or it can get mushy. Just pop back into the oven and warm through.
The top gets nice and crispy too!

What to Serve with Tater Tot Casserole:
This casserole dish, like so many others, is great on it’s own. I like to serve this with some sour cream and green onions on top, for looks and flavour.
How to Store Cheesy Tater Tot Casserole:
I simply place plastic wrap on the cooled dish, as is. Then it can be refrigerated for up to 5 days. When reheating, place uncovered into the oven until warmed all the way through. This recipe is perfect the next day.
I hope you enjoy this classic comfort food. I know we sure do! For another ground beef casserole, try Sloppy Joe Casserole or this easy Philly Cheesesteak Casserole.
