How do you make pecan haystacks?
Stirring often to avoid burning you simply melt the chocolate chips and butterscotch chips in a medium sized saucepan on the stovetop {until completely melted}.
This takes maybe 5 minutes. Not long at all!
Next, stir in the pecan halves and the chow mein noodles until they are completely covered by the chocolate mixture.
That’s pretty simple!

Trust me, the sweet and salty combination is what makes this recipe.
To make these Pecan Haystacks, just drop spoonfuls onto a sheet of wax or parchment paper and let it sit for at least an hour or longer.
Once it’s completely hardened, you can move them safely.
It’s a wonderful easy no-bake holiday treat.

Ingredients
- 1 cup milk chocolate chips
- 1 cup butterscotch chips
- 1 cup pecan halves
- 2 cups chow mein noodles
Instructions
- Melt the chocolate chips and butterscotch chips in a medium sized saucepan on the stovetop over low heat. Stir often. As soon as the chips are melted, remove from heat.
- Stir in pecan halves and chow mein noodles until they are completely covered by the chocolate mixture.
- Drop spoonfuls onto a sheet of wax paper {parchment paper works too}.
- Let the haystacks set for at least an hour. Once the chocolate has hardened, enjoy!

I love no bake recipes because they are so easy. I have made these before with peanuts, but i will have to try pecans next time!
I use toffee crunch chips ( in place of butterscotch) with macadenia nuts. or sometimes I use dried cranberries. they turn out soooooo good.
Can you use pretzel sticks instead of how mein noodles for the haystacks?
It would be a crunchier taste for sure, but I wouldn’t see the harm in giving it a try. Let me know how it goes!

Keep them in an airtight container for up to a week. They do not have to be refrigerated.
I made these for Christmas. My crowd loved them! I will probably have to make some more because they are gone! Easy and doesn’t take a lot of time.
