Happy Fall everyone! My change in season was marked with a dear friend bringing me a 5 gallon pail of apples. Sound familiar?
Right now my Facebook feed is filled with statuses asking who’s got some to spare and apple recipes – tis the season for apples right now!
I only had to think for a minute about what I was going to do with all these apples. I’m cooking most to make pie filling and then freeze individual portions for later.
That way, when I feel like making pie, I’ll have the filling ready to go which is such a time and energy saver later.

To make apple pie filling: my friend suggests cooking a pot-full of {peeled, cored and sliced} apples with about 1/2 cup of sugar and 1 1/2 cups of water.
After about 15-20 minutes of cooking, set it aside to cool. Then once cooled, spoon the mixture into zippered bags and freeze. Sounds easy enough, right? I’m going to try it!
I also had big plans on getting on that cozy sweater and settling in on the couch with
