For this Iced Caramel Brownies recipe, by all means use your favourite brownie recipe if you have one.
Yet, when time crunched or when you have simply have a case of the ‘I don’t wannas’, a pre-packaged brownie mix will most certainly do.
So, for the sake of ease and not scaring you with a whack of ingredients, the following Iced Caramel Brownies recipe calls for that pre-packaged mix. You’re welcome.

Kickin’ it up a notch! Now don’t get me wrong, brownies on their own are great. I’d never pass one up. Yet again, marry that classic chocolate brownie with a rich, gooey {and sinfully delicious} caramel topping plus chocolate sauce and whipped cream?

Iced Caramel Brownies
Ingredients
FOR BROWNIES
- Totally cheat and make the packaged kind (or, your own favourite brownie recipe if you wish)
CARAMEL FROSTING
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup of caramels
- 2 Tablespoons milk
- 1 Tablespoon butter
- +
- 1 Tablespoon butter {softened to room temperature}
- 2 cups icing sugar
- 1-4 Tablespoons Milk {depending on desired consistency}
Instructions
Frosting
- Mix the 4 ingredients together in a microwave safe container, and place in the microwave for 20 seconds. Remove from the microwave and stir and continue to microwave in 20 second increments until caramel is smooth.
- Refrigerate until it is completely cooled {even overnight} The caramel mix will become stiff, but not hard.
- Remove the mixture from the refrigerator, and using a mixer, beat the caramel 1-2 minutes.
- Add 1 Tablespoon of butter and blend well.
- Add the icing sugar and mix until creamy.
- To obtain your desired consistency, slowly add milk starting with 1 Tablespoon. Mix after each addition of 1 tbsp milk and stop when you’ve reached your desired consistency of caramel.
- Spoon the caramel sauce on the brownie.
- **optional yet delicious: top with chocolate sauce,whipped cream and/or pinches of crushed chocolate cereal
