Ingredients and Substitutions

As always, the full recipe is on the printable recipe card at the end of this post.

  • Pineapple – This recipe uses both pineapple slices and crushed pineapple. You can use pineapple chucks instead of slices if you want.
  • Brown Sugar – Adds some sweetness and counters the tang.
  • Garlic – I like to use fresh or jarred, yet you can also use 2 tsp of garlic powder if needed.
  • Onion – Both a white onion and green onion. The green onions are optional but they add a nice pop of color.
  • BBQ Sauce – Use a standard barbecue sauce or even a Hawaiian BBQ sauce for a little extra tropical pizzaz. I also have a Keto BBQ Sauce recipe that you can use.
  • Red Bell Pepper – A green, orange, or yellow bell pepper will work just as well.
  • Red Pepper Flakes – This is an optional ingredient. Omit them if you’re not a spice person.
  • Mango – God, I love mangos. I’m sure some of you won’t be surprised to see this ingredient appearance. You can omit if you want, but this mango lovers heart would break I’m sure.
  • Chunky Salsa – if you enjoy spicy, feel free to use hot salsa!
  • Thick-cut Boneless Pork Chops – You can use bone-in pork chops but you’ll want to add an hour to the cook time on high and 2 hours to the cook time on low. You can also slice a pork tenderloin into chops too. When in doubt, always check doneness with a meat thermometer.

Oven Instructions

You can make Hawaiian pork chops in the oven if needed. To do so, load a 9X13-inch baking dish just as you would the slow cooker and bake for 20 minutes or until the internal temperature of the largest pork chop reaches 145°F.

What to Serve with Hawaiian Pork Chops

I like to serve these over white rice, brown rice, or cauliflower rice. You’ll appreciate that there’s extra sauce, because you’ll be looking for that side that will use up more of that tangy hawaiian sauce.

You can serve this slow cooker pork chops dish with many sides such as a simple side salad, Hawaiian rolls, or vegetables such as Air Fryer Asparagus, or Roasted Parmesan Green Beans.

Storage and Reheating

  • To store. Once the pork and sauce have cooled to room temperature, seal the leftovers in an airtight container. Pineapple pork chops will keep in the fridge for up to 4 days or in the freezer for up to 3 months.
  • To reheat. Allow the Hawaiian pork chops to thaw in the fridge before reheating (if applicable). Transfer the pork and sauce to a baking dish and cover it with aluminum foil. Bake at 350°F for 20 minutes or until heated through.

Make Ahead Instructions

You can make this ahead of time and freeze it! Simply combine the sauce, pork chops, and pineapple slices in a large freezer bag. You can freeze it for up to 3 months.

When you are ready to enjoy, transfer the contents of the bag to the crockpot and cook just as you normally would. Just tack on an extra hour to the cook time.

Your Questions, Answered.

What size crockpot did you use?

I suggest sticking with a crockpot that holds 6-8 quarts. If you want to use a smaller crockpot, scale the recipe down.

Can I use a crockpot liner?

You can and you should if you want the easiest cleanup possible. They are the best!

Should I marinate the meat?

While marinating the pork in the sauce for an hour or less can impart extra flavor to the meat, I don’t recommend doing it for any longer than that. The acid in pineapple tends to break down protein which can leave you with mushy meat.
