How to make bacon stuffed mushrooms

This appetizer recipe combines cheese, bacon, onion and garlic. The mixture filled into mushroom caps is delicious, and bite-sized to make the perfect finger food appetizer. Just mix, stuff and broil – they are an easy recipe to make and take.

When making these Bacon and cheese stuffed mushrooms, prepare to watch them disappear and fast.

Also, feel free to prepare these ahead of time. Simply stuff the mushrooms, place them on the baking pan, and cover in plastic wrap and refrigerate.

Then you can cook them up right before serving, as they are best nice and warm.

Sometimes I’ve taken them prepared and uncooked, and popped them into my gusts oven to finish right before serving. The smell filling the room is an excellent precursor to the deliciousness to come.

Ingredients 

  • 5 oz soft cream cheese
  • 1/2 cup real bacon bits (cooked)
  • 1/2 green onion (chopped)
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 12 large mushrooms (stems removed to form little cups)

Instructions

  • In a bowl, beat cream cheese until smooth.
  • Stir in the bacon, onion and garlic powder.
  • Spoon into mushroom caps.
  • Broil on top rack for 4-6 minutes or until heated through.
  • Serve warm.

    i have always made mushroom caps with crab, bacon made me sit up and try it immediately!
    i did find them a bit too wet, so the next time i will bake the mushroom caps stem side down for a few minutes before placing the filling in them to get rid of the extra moisture in the caps. i hope that makes sense 😉
