For one of my favourite cookie recipes ever, make sure to check out these beautiful Cake Mix Cookies! And these Confetti Squares are classic, easy and so popular!
This time of year, more so than other months, is a time when I really get into the mood to bake. Perhaps it’s the colder weather and the need for some comfort food.
Yet I think it’s mainly due to all the delicious ideas when it comes to holiday baking, along with the seasonal blend of holiday spices and ingredients.

We give a lot of baked items to friends and family, tied up with a bow. We make make big batches to freeze for when company comes over.
As well, we participate in at least one Cookie Exchange during the season as well. It’s a great excuse to share the {baked} love, try new recipes and then increase our own recipe box.
We recently made a cookie recipe that had my girls drooling on the countertops and made good use of some leftover Halloween candy: M&M Cookie Bars!
To make this recipe, you need to combine flour, baking soda and baking powder in a bowl and set aside. This is the dry ingredients.

Then, you mix together sugar, brown sugar, butter, eggs and vanilla in another bowl. At first it’s chunky and you don’t think it’ll fluff up, yet it will.
It takes a good minute of mixing. You can use a mixer for this step, yet the girls wanted to take turns mixing, so we used a wooden spoon.
Slowly add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring as you go.

Fold in M&M’s {yet don’t mix so much that the colour starts to run!}, and then place the dough in a 13×9 baking sheet which is lined with foil.
Then, place some more M&M’s on top of the batter.
Bake and once cooled, take it out for cutting! The sizes of the bars is up to you, yet I made smaller pieces so that they will fit into bags or containers.
If participating in a cookie exchange, add some ribbon and a tag to your treat and it makes the perfect little sweet bundle.
