Baked appetizer dips are wildly popular in this house, and not just for gatherings. I fully admit we make them for afternoon snacks, to even dinner.

While family and friend gatherings isn’t in the cards this year, that doesn’t mean that appetizer dips are also a thing of the past.

We love appetizer nights, even if it’s just us digging in. They go so well with game and movie nights, to just relaxing and enjoying some great food.

They will always be apart of our holiday tradition. Yet many times throughout the year it calls for appetizers, like for game day!

We often make Buffalo Chicken Dip, because it is simply amazing when it comes to taste. Yet we like to change up our favourites now and then with simple swaps that create a whole new taste.

This warm dip recipe is fantastic on it’s own, yet it can easily be made into a Buffalo Crack Chicken Dip just be adding some buffalo sauce and hot sauce into the mixture.

It gives this recipe that ‘kick’, for those that like that bold spicy taste.

This chicken ranch dip recipe is sometimes referred to as warm crack chicken dip recipe, for being so very addictive.

It’s a tongue-in-cheek name for sure, yet I prefer to nickname this dip recipe as Fully Loaded Chicken Dip.

Whatever you call it, this hearty dip is as recognizable as it is irresistible and one delicious dip. It’s a popular great recipe for the big game, movie night all the way to an afternoon snack.

Ingredients to Make Chicken bacon Ranch Dip

You’ll need the following 7 simple ingredients to make this chicken crack dip recipe, the full recipe and detailed instructions are on the printable recipe card below.

  • softened cream cheese
  • sour cream
  • powdered ranch seasoning dressing
  • chopped cooked bacon
  • shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • cooked chopped chicken
  • chopped green onions

How to Make Crack Chicken Dip

This dip is a mix and bake appetizer with delicious flavors. It’s ready in 30 minutes, which could not be easier.

In a medium bowl, combine cream cheese, sour cream, shredded cooked chicken (or cooked shredded chicken breasts), ranch dressing mix (ranch packet), cooked crumbled bacon, green onion and cheddar cheese.

Place into a baking dish and top with some reserved additional cheese and bacon bits, then pop it into the oven. Once cooked, garnish if you want with some green onions and it’s ready to be enjoyed.

Variations on this Recipe:

Since you could eat this cheesy chicken dip for a meal, some might want to cut back the calories or make this low carb.

If you prefer, you can use low fat cream cheese, light sour cream, light cheese and use turkey bacon.

While I haven’t tried it with low calorie products, I’m sure it would still taste as great.

Can this Chicken Dip Be Made Ahead of Time?

Absolutely! You can make this chicken bacon ranch dip recipe ahead of time and refrigerate until it’s time to bake. Yet keep in mind, the bake time might increase a couple of minutes.

I also like that this chicken dip recipe is a great use for chicken leftovers too. Sometimes I buy a rotisserie chicken just to make recipes such as this one.

Storage:

If you have leftovers of this cheesy dip, simply cover and refrigerate for up to 3 days. I either cover this crack chicken dip with plastic wrap or place the leftover dip into an airtight container.

This yummy dip is easy to re-heat and enjoy at a later time. Do so in the oven or in the microwave. Just make sure that the dip is in a microwave safe container

What to Serve with Warm Shredded Chicken Dip

We enjoy this bacon ranch chicken dip with baguette slices, crispy tortilla chips, Tostito chips and even sliced vegetables like celery sticks and carrot sticks. You can also serve with pita chips or your favorite crackers.

I like to have a variety of sides on hand, so everyone can jump from one to the other. This way all tastes and preferences are covered.

This is important whether serving this chicken ranch dip at at a football party or for your family.

I especially love this creamy chicken bacon ranch dip recipe because I usually have all the ingredients on hand. This is convenient for when that craving strikes or if you make last minute plans.

Bacon Cheddar Ranch Chicken Dip is so addicting! This creamy warm appetizer dip is fully loaded and popular with the masses.

Ingredients

  • 5 oz. crean cheese, softened
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 package powdered ranch dressing mix
  • 6 slices chopped cooked bacon
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 1/2 cups cooked chopped chicken
  • 3 chopped green onions

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees and spray a 9x6 baking dish with cooking spray
  2. In a large bowl, stir together the cream cheese and sour cream until combined.
  3. Reserve 2 tbsp each of the cooked bacon and green onion.
  4. Combine all other ingredients into the large bowl with the cream cheese and sour cream. Mix well until combined.
  5. Pour into prepared baking dish, top with reserved bacon and bake for 20 minutes. It's done when it's hot and bubbly.
  6. Remove from oven and garnish with the remaining green onion.
  7. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

- You can make and refrigerate for later. Yet additional baking time might be required if the dish is cold.
