Wing Weekend Summer Picnic

I start each and every summer with a list made by my daughters, with their bucket list to-do requests in order to make it the best ever. At the top of one list was going on a picnic, which we did right away to kick off our 2018 summer break.

Fact is, going on a picnic is a simple summer activity that gives big results and lasting memories. All you need is some great food, a blanket, and a location. Tip: we choose a different spot each time. On this occasion, the park location was chosen by my daughter, and the playground provided perfect bonus entertainment.

For our picnic food I made the ever-popular Dill Pickle Pasta Salad, cherries chosen from the market, fresh cold watermelon, chips, and iced tea. We were also craving chicken wings {yet really, when aren’t we?} so I stopped en-route to buy some.

Did you know that 7-Eleven stores provides 100% Canadian chicken wings?

When I pulled up to our local 7-Eleven store, I couldn’t help but notice that iconic Raised by a Canadian Farmer logo on the outdoor sign. I spotted this same recognizable logo while browsing the delicious chicken selection in-store.

As someone who loves to support Canadian chicken farmers,  spotting this logo when shopping most definitely sways my purchasing decisions.

Why choose Raised by a Canadian Farmer chicken?

The better question is: why wouldn’t you opt for the highest quality chicken, raised to the highest standards of animal care, quality and sustainability?

All Canadian chicken farmers adhere to a strict mandatory On-Farm Food Safety Program, a national standard that has received federal, provincial and territorial government recognition and full recognition by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency.

Canadian chicken farmers are also committed to sustainability through innovation, by preserving the health of the land, providing value to Canada’s economy, and making affordable food for Canadians.

I think the choice is pretty obvious, much like my parenting decision to fulfill a simple request for a summer picnic. I guess the only decision is which flavours to try – or a little of all available, as we did. I have to admit, they went pretty fast during our picnic.

Have a Wing Weekend Summer Picnic!

If you have no plans on July 28th & 29th, why not plan a summer picnic? Get back to basics and chill in the sun, partake in some outdoor fun, and dine on crispy 100% Canadian chicken wings from your local 7-Eleven.

Wing Weekend Summer Picnic

July 28/29 is National Wing Weekend, an event created by 7-Eleven and designed to allow Canadians indulge their irresistible ‘thing for wings’.

It’s another great excuse to love summer, plus it proves that wings don’t have to be ‘a thing’ just reserved for Wednesdays – we love them and want a whole weekend to enjoy! Plus the bucket is on for a special price of 10/$7.11 on this particular weekend, which certainly won’t break your picnicking bank.

Speaking from experience, a summer picnic is an ideal activity for the season. We had a great time, and decided it’s not just a once-a-summer activity – we’ve already planned out our next one. And yes, it slated to happen again on National Wing Weekend of course!
