Organized for Back to School!

Organization – it’s what I strive for! My usual routine was thrown a curve ball when Isabelle started Kindergarten this week. This whole experience is so new to me, I needed to do some lessons in School 101.

I was invited to a Twitter Webcast yesterday,
sponsored by Office Max.
Peter Walsh, an organizational expert from
TLC’s Clean Sweep and Oprah
was the speaker.
“Get Organized for Back-to-School” shared tips and strategies for organizing and preparing our home and our children for the approaching school year. He answered many great questions and shared strategies on being prepared for school. What a great opportunity to learn some trick sform the organizing master himself!!

Some of the topics discussed that helped me were:

  • Find the Vision you have for a Space
  • Make Organization a Family Value
  • Use the Right Tools for Great Organization

  • Show that you Value Organization
  • Establish Clear Limits and Routines
  • Always ‘Finish the Cycle’ (Complete a Task)

  • Establish Clear Routines
  • Involve Kids with Classroom Organization
  • Use Words, Pictures and Color to help Organize

Peter Walsh has a new line of organizational products, called [In]Place. As one of the selected bloggers to participate in the event, I received some product samples from Office Max, supplies from the Scoolio-Von-Hoolio collection. I know, the name is as ecentric as the items are. Flare and sass in forms of rich neons – just what this seasons’ style is. (I should have kept all that neon of mine, from the 80″s!) Binders, notebooks, pencils, folders, cases and file folders. Even a cute tote (that turns into a backpack) to hold everything in. The colors are fresh and bright. And, it’s almost everything you’d need to start the school year. I’ll be giving these supplies to Isabelle, when her spelling and writing has improved. What great items to keep her organized!
