Random Signs of Spring

This week truly felt like the first days of Spring, it’s been a beautiful 15 °C! We haven’t seen a nice day like this since late September, so it’s been a long Winter to say the least.

So, what does one do when it’s finally nice enough to ditch that Winter coat? Enjoy it, of course!

Yet, this nice weather also means a lot of melting. Water everywhere! So obviously, since I’m one of those last minute ‘planners’, I had to run out just yesterday and get the girls some rubber boots. Never fails!

So … how do we get to the swings anyway?

Since it was a nice day and my garage is still filled with cases of Girl Guide cookies, I decided we better hit the pavement and get rid of some. The girls took off running, excited to be jacket-free for the first time in a long time. Door to door to door.

It was really cute, since their spiel, “do you want some girl guide cookies?” was said in perfect unison. When they did make their very first sale, they cheered and high-fived each other.

Even though the sun was setting, it was still too incredibly nice to be indoors, so the girls brought out their bikes, scooters and sidewalk chalk. All dusty from being cooped up in the garage all this time, but that didn’t matter.

Freedom. Play. This was what Spring is.

This also marked a great big firs for the twins, they didn’t know how to write their names last Summer. So this was the first time that their names met some sidewalk chalk. I know this’ll continue all season long.

Of course more puddle jumping, you can’t let even one puddle go by without some splashing, right?

spring 2014

It was a nice day, yet almost foreign in a way. So much time spent bundled up and avoiding the outdoors. It’s like meeting an old friend and jumping right in where you left off. It feels good … welcome Spring!!

What do your random days of Spring look like?

  1. Yay for SPRING! I feel the same way. Although I am not trusting Michigan yet not to throw a snow storm at us one more time! LOL. Those boots are adorable too.

    1. Oh I know, here too. I remember it snowing in June one year … HOPING it doesn’t and this sun is here to stay!!

    1. It’s so nice to get outside again, I feel like a caged animal in the Winter … which explains why we travel so much I suppose. Twist my arm!!! lol

  2. We had signs of spring starting (melting snow, dry roads, big puddles) at our house. Then Mother Nature laughed and sent us snow for 2 days. Maybe sometime in May the white stuff will be gone…

  3. I remember the days of taking my daughter around to sell Girl Scout cookies! These pictures are all so cute.

    1. We still have a couple cases to sell, I think next weekend and we’ll have them all gone. My plan: go back to those houses that were so excited and bought. They’ll have run out and will be wanting more. Hahahaha!

  4. Today it reached a high of 60 and the sun was shining. At this point I would totally cry if it snowed out!

    1. It was gloomy today and rained a little. I admit to holding my breath with a Noooooo!!! So far so good, my fingers are crossed!

  5. Oh yes, we have melting everywhere, too. Loving the rain boot, though! That makes it work!! I hear lots of birds chirping and kids playing outside. That’s our signs of spring.

  6. Well, we live in Texas, so we are already in shorts… but I know it is Spring because it goes from chilly in the morning to HOT in the afternoon

  7. my kids are like wild animals outside right now. they get FILTHY. its been too long a winter!

  8. Wow! Lots of water in that playground! Lol the snow has mostly melted here in Edmonton and we’ve had some warm days in the last two weeks so all the puudles and water have been soaked up. I’m so looking forward to Spring!!!

  9. We have been having a back-and-forth kind of spring. Right now it is on the warmer side so I can’t complain! I don’t love the muddy part of spring because my dogs’ pawprints get everywhere and I’m constantly mopping the floors behind them.

  10. Aww this looks like a wonderful day! I love splashing in puddles, such a carefree feeling.

Those are such cute boots! I can’t believe how much water has built up.. that is a lot!

  11. super cute photos! We have no more snow or anything around here πŸ™‚ Our signs of spring this time of year are blooming flowers!

  12. Yeah for Spring! It is finally beginning to show up at our house too! We got to go a week without the winter coats; just the spring jackets. It was such a nice change!

    1. Just getting ready in the morning is much easier too, so happy not to keep track of so many mitts!

  13. Well, spring here, on the west coast, looks a lot different here since we only get a few weeks of snow total for the winter. We definitely have a lot of mud and puddles though. Our boots have been getting a lot of wear this spring.
Flowers everywhere and budding trees, too!

  14. Isn’t it nice to get out and enjoy the first signs of Spring?! I actually just got out for the first time yesterday afternoon on a walk around the neighborhood with one of my friends-we’re trying to be each others’ accountability friends πŸ™‚

    1. Yep, instead of running to and from the car so you don’t freeze, I’m walking a little slower – taking it all in!! πŸ™‚

  15. Finally that snow is melting for you! I love the photos! I think this is a post you will look back on to remember when….they grow so fast!

  16. Looks like you’re having a great time! I hope the rest of your snow melts soon! ENJOY SPRING!

  17. Oh my gosh how much water is in that playground! The one at Boo’s school wasn’t much better, but not that deep. I’m sitting on my couch with the windows open letting in the spring breeze, Bulbs and my rhubarb are sprouting up through the ground and my neighbour’s crocuses are blooming in a riot of spring colours. Plus – robins. So happy to see them back on the lawn!!

This was for sure the worst winter in forever, and I am so grateful it’s GONE!

  18. Beautiful pictures! Our snow is mainly gone..the random cold days are getting very tiresome, I’m sure all the children will be happy once Mother Nature spits out summer!

  19. I have 2 girls and it is so true the first sign of spring for them is getting out their sidewalk chalk. They play with it for 3 days then totally forget about it the rest of the year…lol.

  20. Awww…how cute are they? My mom was my Girl Scout troop leader. Our living room and dining room were filled floor to ceiling with pallets of cookies for months on end!

  21. I love the picture of the water at the swings. Such restraint. My kids would have been in the middle before I could even yell not to.
