The Brick Warehouse, My Shopping Spree

Tammi Roy media

Last month I told you about a great contest happening at The Brick Warehouse. They are looking for design tips, and sharing yours could land you a $2500 shopping spree. I also told you that I am Augusts’ Design Tip Winner! Since then, I have been busy browsing The Brick website as well as in store. I had an idea of what I wanted to get, yet when I got to the store I was easily swayed by other things that I would love to have. Like by this fancy shiny number: **drool**

Yet, when it comes down to it, I needed to think of items that we really needed. For a long time we have wanted new couches for the basement living room. The ones we were using were quite old, one even a hand-me-down from my husbands’ grandparents. Plus, new furniture would make our basement more comfortable this winter, when we spend more time indoors. And I knew exactly which sectional I wanted – thanks to my friend. She got her’s a few months ago and I fell in love with it. She thought it was funny that I asked her if she wouldn’t mind that I got the same sectional as her. It’s not like wearing the same dress to a party, right?

So, after taking it for a test-sit in store, and getting my friends’ approval {we are forever going to laugh at this one}, I bought my new sectional!

Blog readers, meet Treia!

Isn’t she beautiful!?

If you want comfort, this is the couch to get! Not too firm, not too soft, it’s just like a nice pillow to relax in. And, it’s big enough for our family of 5! Each of us has claimed a favorite spot on the sectional. Isabelle was the first to fall in love with the chaise section of the couch.

Now, if you are wondering about the creamy taupe color that I chose or that I got fabric in general – rest assured, this couch is kid-friendly. Aside from the fact that I have a no food or drink rule in the living room, my couch also came with stain guard. Since our previous couches were around my kids for 7 years with not one drop spilled on it, I think I am safe with these ones. They even came with these cute accent pillows too!! Love!!

The day before I went shopping to spend my $2500 winnings, my upstairs {main} TV blew. As in, I heard a ‘pop’ and the picture was no longer. So, it was decided for me, that we were also going to get a new TV for upstairs. I chose the 42″ LG Plasma, and it’s been wonderful. Yet I realized that this plasma is smaller that the 42″ plasma that we bought so many years ago. It’s smaller because they no longer put the huge border around the screen with the speakers. So, if I had considered this, I probably would have gotten a larger TV to fit into our alcove space. Oh well, I still love it!

We have lived in our current house for almost 5 years now and I haven’t had a fully functioning microwave since then. The only buttons that work are ‘1 minute’ and ‘stop’, so it’s been a pain to re-heat anything. Plus, I miss having defrost! As well, the fan grate was broken when we moved in and it’s a terrible eyesore. Really, I can’t believe we’ve put up with it this long. So, I happily treated myself to the Black 1.6 Cu. Ft. Over-the-Range Microwave. I’d love to post a photo, yet this is a popular model and it’s on back-order. So, I eagerly wait until it arrives and cannot wait to have a microwave again!!!

I still have credit left for The Brick, I’m just looking for the right DVD bookshelf. Or maybe some accent pieces for our new basement oasis? Either way, it’s sure been so much fun spending such a fantastic shopping spree!

What would you get with a $2500 Shopping Spree?

  1. I have a very similar sectional in the basement! I love the chaise lounge,, that is the first seat to go.

enjoy shopping for the rest of your home!

  2. My husband is drooling over here…he would love to turn the basement into a man cave, but we just don’t have the money right now…maybe one day! Love your new couch!

  3. great choices Tammi!! I will be making the trip to the city (4.5 hrs away) for my shopping spree at the Brick soon… can’t wait!!

  4. Nice choices. You got great stuff. As for the DVD bookshelf I haven’t been able to find one that is really desighed for DVD except online. I did look at The Brick; they might have new ones available now. I was looking for one that is looking more like a piece of furniture rather than just a box. I love my over-the-range microwave; it’s so handy.

    1. I agree, Josee. And, with having the twin toddlers, I might have to get something with doors {locking}, yet I don’t want it to look too ‘cupboardish’.
Let me know if you find something!

    1. Agreed SamiJoe – My daughter and I had movie night last night, I could have slept on this couch all night!

  5. Oh my Congrats Tammi!! What a great couch you choose I love the chaise lounge addition to the sofas now and you made a great choice! I was always wondering since I do enter their giveaways but not this one if anyone actually wins and now someone won from where I live and I can see it with my own eyes, yeah:)

  6. You did well, my friend. You did well! I wish we had a full basement. Our four-level side-split leaves us with a half basement which houses our laundry room and that’s about it. Do you think you could exchange the t.v. for a larger size?

  7. Is that sectional missing legs or is it supposed to be flat on the ground with no space underneath. Haha I have old raggity sofas from early 90s so this is what Im used to.

    1. Nope, you are right! It has lovely little legs that will make it look that much better.
YET, I can’t lift the couches by myself to put them on…waiting until my hubby gets back from work to help me with that.
Good eyes, Miss T – good eyes!!!
      🙂

  8. Yep, that’s the kind of sectional we want too…we love the shape and I am happy it’s so comfy!!! Enjoy it this winter….too much fun to have the shopping spree!!!

of familiarity, therefore it’s pleasant to read this website, and I used to pay a quick visit this webpage all
    the time.

  11. Greetings, There’s no doubt that your blog could
possibly be having web browser compatibility issues. When I take a look at your blog in Safari, it looks fine however, when opening in IE, it’s
got some overlapping issues. I merely wanted to provide you with a quick heads up!
    Apart from that, fantastic blog!
