Monster High Birthday Party

Monster High Birthday Party Ideas myorganizedchaos

We just celebrated my daughters 9th birthday. She wanted to have a Monster High birthday party, fitting with her love obsession for the line of dolls and clothes.

Yet, we were having the party at our local community pool, swimming then a gathering with friends in a meeting/party room afterward. So, while I went all out with the Monster High Cake, I had to keep it relatively simple when it came to food and decor.

I know, on with the cake details, right?

I made a two-layer Monster High cake, in coffin shape, matching colours of the brand and the skull logo. It turned out beautifully! Between the two layers is my dream whip icing and the outside is decorated with buttercream.

I did add her name and a ‘9’ on the cake after I took the above photo. I’m not the greatest with piping letters, I tend to shake a lot in fear that I’m going to massively screw it up. Yet, it came out not too bad. Phew!

Yes, the cake was as delicious and it was eye-catching!

For decorations, to took it to ETSY for some Monster High Printables. I made the banner, which was easily strung in the party room.

I also printed some Monster High themed circles, just to spread as giant confetti on the table {easier cleanup than the little confetti}. My printer did get a workout for this party, since I also found some Monster High Napkin Rings Printables. Why not?

I also taped a few of the large confetti circles to toothpicks, just to decorate the food a bit. Another very tiny detail that added a nice touch.

Also from an ETSY Monster High Printable, I added labels to water bottles. So simple yet again a nice touch to otherwise boring bottles.

The party was a success and my daughter absolutely loved her day. Swimming, friends, food, celebration. Plus, some Monster High details that put a smile on her face, yet also didn’t break the bank nor take too much time to prepare. Ok, so the cake took a few hours to decorate, but it was all worth it in the end.

Notice her purple shirt with skulls on them, a la Monster High? Yep, told you she was a fan-girl.

Happy Birthday my sweetie!

  20. Hey would you mind stating which blog platform you’re
using? I’m going to start my own blog in the near future but I’m having a tough time making a
    decision between BlogEngine/Wordpress/B2evolution and Drupal.

The reason I ask is because your design and style
seems different then most blogs and I’m looking for something completely unique.
P.S Sorry for being off-topic but I had to ask!

  22. What an awesome way to save a lot of money, especially on decorations!! They grow up so fast… all too soon birthdays become phone calls and short visits..

  23. Love the cake! My daughters are obsessed with Monster High & I’ll be doing TWO MH parties come January! One of my daughters is turning 11 & the other one is turning 9 but they want separate parties, yay! At least I’ll be able to re-use decorations, right?! Thanks for the inspiration!

  24. Wow fantastic job on the cake, looks great! It can definitely be a challenge to bring food to a party that you’re having out of the home 🙂

  26. Hi, did you freehand the skullette onto the cake? I’m making this for my daughter’s birthday this weekend and I can’t decide if I should try to trace it onto the cake or use a buttercream transfer.
    Thanks!

    1. I printed a skull off and traced using icing {trace with a very thin layer of icing} of the outside and eyes. Then, turn onto cake so the icing impressions to the cake to make a slight impression – Just to get the size right. Then, I filled in on my own.
