Instant Photos With Fujifilm and #InstaxSQHoliday

Disclosure: I am participating in the FujiFilm Canada campaign managed by SJ Consulting. I received compensation in exchange for my participation in this campaign. The opinions on this blog are my own.

I firmly believe all moments, from big events to the everyday, are worth capturing and treasuring for all time. Evidence of this is in my dozens of photos albums, countless drives and discs of images, and right down to my photo-heavy social accounts and this very blog. My favourite possessions are photos of when I was young, even just snapshots of my posed stuffed animals – and I know my girls will cherish all their photos years from now as well.

When looking through old albums recently, as I was bin-searching for Christmas decorations, I felt my heart tug with the need to focus more on printing and displaying current moments. Yet I know I’m not going to keep up on traditional developing – so much of our lives is instant. We’ve grown accustomed to filters, editing, cropping and choosing one photo out of a dozen similar ones.

instax SQUARE SQ10

I’m very excited to introduce my readers to the instax SQUARE SQ10 because it combines the best of both a digital camera AND an instant camera.

instax SQUARE SQ10

When taking photos with this camera, you can take 50 photos stored in internal memory or insert a microSD card for tons more. Choose between two modes to either automatically print off the photos you take, or manually print the ones you choose. It has a generous sized LCD monitor viewing screen, and easy-to-use buttons and dials which allow you to edit the photos you take as needed. The focus on user-friendly obvious as I didn’t spend more than a couple minutes with the manual, and there’s even two shutter-buttons, on both the left and right side and right where your fingers land when you hold the camera naturally.

Take a photo and you can crop, change the lighting, add white or black vignette, or add filters – right on the camera. The filters range from b&w to pops of colour which highlight only certain colours like red or blue. Some filters are strong, while others are soft and less-obvious – a great variety! This is why the size and quality of the monitor is key, because you can vividly see how each photo will turn out, before you print. This I love, because there isn’t any guessing or wasting photo paper.

Overall the instax SQUARE SQ10 is a great size {fits into my purse!}, sturdy and fits nicely in the hand. This makes it easier for even kids to grip and steady themselves, allowing the control and composition needed for that perfect shot. It does allow for tripod-use as well. Right off the bat I appreciated that the main settings that you’ll use often are one-command buttons underneath the LCD screen, and also labelled with a photo – so there’s no searching through menus to find editing or printing.

When you have that perfect shot, hit print and out comes a 86 x 72mm instant photo in a trendy square form. The paper cartridge on the camera hold 10 sheets, and there is a 10-light indicator on the display screen to notify how many were used and still available. Each 10-pack of “instax SQUARE” photo paper is sold separately. It has a re-chargeable battery which lasts up to 160 prints per charge, which is an incredible time for a camera that is both digital and instant.

Fujifilm instax SQUARE SQ10

We’ve been having a blast with the instax SQUARE SQ10 camera and have been capturing everyday moments to the special ones that definitely need the photo proof. My daughters recently had their cheerleading showcase, and I was able to get some great shots of them and their teammates together, -and print them off instantly so that they could all have a copy. Not only do they get that photo instantly, they also have the option of writing a note on them, or simply showing off to others without holding a camera display in their faces. Yet let’s be honest because most are teenagers – the filters before printing stole the show.

instax SHARE SP-3 Printer

This is another great Fuji product that allows you to have those instant photos – not with a camera but a printer which bluetooth connects to your phone. It’s the Fujifilm instax SHARE SP-3 printer!

I can’t even count the number of times my twins have requested to have select and random photos taken on my phone. Since they aren’t of cellphone age yet, their natural way to ‘have photos’ is to physically have them – and like all kids – they want them now. This printer makes that simple, and the size is so compact – it’s certainly not your ordinary printer!

instax SHARE SP-3 Printer

It works using the free INSTAX SHARE app which you download – then take or choose a photo, edit as you see fit – and print wirelessly! Not only can I print my favourites which have been on my phone forever {I obviously like them enough to keep them in prime location for so long, so why not print them already!}, yet I can print new ones taken on my phone as well. So, I can fulfill the “I need a picture of what the elf is doing today” request – snap, edit, print – so effortlessly!

instax app SHARE SP-3 Printer

Yet there’s an added bonus – on the app you can choose to print photos from you social media sites as well. So, connect the app to Instagram, Facebook, Google Photos, flickr and Dropbox – and any of those images can be printed as well. I haven’t used this feature as yet – but there’s also collages to choose from on the app as well. So one photo per paper isn’t the only option for printing.

instax SHARE SP-3 Printer

With the instax SHARE SP-3 printer you don’t have to go hunting for connection cords, download photos into files, sort through all downloaded, use separate editing software and print manually from a different device. For ease and convenience – this method and this product wins, hands down. The photos printed are the very same that I mentioned in the above – the instax SQUARE photo paper cartridges!

As you can see Fujifilm offers two great products to get those instant photos. I have printed for myself, my kids and many for others already. My kids hosted a sleepover the other night and I snapped a cute photo of them all in their onesies together on the couch. Our friends and guests went home with photos thanks to Fujifilm, with smiles on their faces and memories in hand which were too good not to share.

This is just one example of why I’ve fallen in love with the instax SQUARE SQ10 camera and the instax SHARE SP-3 printer – they are the fantastic Christmas gift ideas for 2017!
