Halloween Tricks and Treats for Healthy Teeth

This Hallows’ Eve while wicked witches are brewing their cauldrons, and zombies are creeping through the night, we suspect that you and your kids will be screaming “trick or treat!”. Actually, my girls have been practicing for about a month now.

Yet Halloween brings a lot less tricks, and a lot more treats right?!

I mean, look at the teeth on Halloween pumpkins?! Now that’s enough to scare you! With all the candy enjoyed this Halloween, it’s important to take care of those pearly whites and not let all that diligence be ruined in one evening.

Tips and Tools to make Brushing Teeth fun for Kids!

With any kids brush, it’s important that the design works for their unique needs. To make sure the toothbrush is doing what it should, look for a toothbrush that is designed with a smaller brush head (best for smaller mouths) and a brush head that helps remove plaque and massage gums. Battery powered toothbrushes are also a great option for kids, as it makes tooth brushing time that much more fun. The new Arm & Hammer™ Spinbrush™ Super Mario Bros™ Toothbrush lets kids brush their teeth with their favourite Super Mario character.

To help fight against cavities, strengthen teeth and add fun to your kids brushing routine, try new Orajel™ Bubble Guppies™ Kids Anticavity Fluoride Toothpaste Gel and Manual Toothbrush. These are the perfect tools to help transition kids from fluoride-free to fruity fluoride toothpaste, while using characters from the hit television show Bubble Guppies. The manual toothbrush’s coloured bristle guide easily shows children where to place their toothpaste, while the soft bristles are gentle on young teeth and gums. Plus the handle provides a comfortable grip for little hands! Children under the age of three should always be supervised by an adult when brushing.

For the parents that sneak one too many treats from the candy bag {me!!}, Orajel™ has what you need to make sure your sweet tooth doesn’t cause you pain. With Orajel™ Maximum Strength Toothache Pain Relief Gel, you can enjoy sweets and know that if a stubborn toothache happens as a result, you will be able to get instant relief.

  1. Great tips! I am a sucker for anything chocolate, I may raid the bags once the kids are asleep 🙂

  2. Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups are my all time favorite candy, but I do enjoy a few candy corns this time of year.

  3. That’s a tough question for a girl with a sweet tooth as big as mine! I’m going to say my favorite is… the fun sized ones.

  4. Halloween is he best time of year. I can buy 10 bags of awesome candy, and no one looks twice at me! That being said, ALL candy is my favorite Halloween candy. Yum!

  5. Could there be a better holiday? It’s totally devoted to candy! My favorite is fun sized Kit Kat!

  6. I’m terrible at sneaking that candy from my kids’ candy bags. Candy Corn, Smarties, and Whoppers are my favorite. I have a problem. 🙂

  7. I love those pumpkins! I was drawn to the teeth for sure. 🙂 Halloween is a funny holiday. Luckily my kids are young enough that we just give them a little bit of candy here and there, and they forget about the rest. 🙂 That’s good for me because I like to eat all their Snickers!

  8. These are really great tips. I really like battery operated toothbrushes for kids. It really increases the odds that they’ll do a good job.

  9. My favorite Halloween candy is actually the one that nobody likes. I really love those peanut butter things that have the soft middles. I don’t even know what they’re called.

  12. I love your pumpkins. They look fantastic. I love all the chocolate bars at Halloween. Peanut butter cups are my favorite.

  13. My youngest has me on a hunt for new tooth paste for him. He can not find one he likes and his is no longer made. I will have to give this brand a try.

  14. Reeses Cup are my weakness. I may always confiscate those as soon as we get in. You know, mom has to check to make sure everything’s safe… those never are. weird, right 😉

  15. Some great options for getting kids to brush their teeth. I always let my kids eat their candy trying to avoid those sticky ones that are so difficult to get out of your teeth. And yes, I would raid their bags after they went to bed. My favourite is any little chocolate bar.

  16. All my kids want to is brush their teeth. I swear they’d brush them all day if they could!

  17. Great post Tammi, my fave is Reese’s peanut butter cups. To be honest our little one is not a big junk fanatic, actually we made an agreement that if she wants to donate her treats we would buy her a toy up to $20 and she usually accepts that..Yayyyy! lol We still go out and have fun on Halloween and she does eat some.

  18. I love Hershey bars plain or with almonds, my son always picks them out and gives them to me. I have tried really good chocolate but they are still my favorite.

  20. Great tips! I can’t believe Super Mario is still popular, I remember my Brother having his room decorated with him when we were just little! I’m pregnant with our first little one so anything in the way of Halloween candy makes me happy although sweat tarts make me (and baby) really happy right now! My Husband says he’s won’t ever want to come out if Mama keeps feeding him chocolates and poutines lol!
