Drool Worthy: Ultimate Bunk Bed Ideas

Purchasing bunk beds has been a topic of conversation among hubby and I, since we have twin toddlers that share a smallish room. It really is the best way to maximize space when you have more than one child sharing a room.

Yet when browsing local stores for bunk beds, I didn’t really like any of them. They were all too boring, too ‘campish’, especially for my little Twincesses.

I found the ultimate {The.Best} bunk bed ideas ever, online. The ones I covet the most require a contractor and knocking downwalls, which is a task in itself. Yet, the final looks? Nothing short of drool-worthy!

Hunny, where’s the sledgehammer?

    1. I hear ya – I wanna be a kid again!!!
ok, so what’s stopping us from having them now? Perfect way to feel younger!!

  1. I love these ideas, how very cool. Especially the one with the two blue chairs. I can dream!

  2. Imagine how awesome that would be as a kid to have that in your bed room! You would be the coolest kid on the block.

    1. I used to want a canopy bed when I was little {never did get one}, but can you imagine the fun sleepovers kids would have!?
You wouldn’t have to worry about them not staying in the room to play!

  3. I like the first one. It looks more like a loft. That way you have maybe a itty bitty bit of space to plant your feet up there, which means it’s easier to make the bed. Something to think about. The top bunk bed is the hardest bed to make. Been there, done that.

    1. Oh yes, making those beds is another story.
The first picture – I love the ceilings of that room, it was made for these bunks!

  4. I will need a BIGGER new house to accommodate those bunk beds, lol. Those rooms are bigger than my living room.
My son (only 1) told me he wants to sleep in bunk bed 2 years ago. I was in budget & got the one in Walmart ($269 then but you need extra slate for the mattress support) Truth is he NEVER sleeps on the upper bunk (my son is a scary cat) he’s afraid to sleep there & climb down from the ladder (he was 10)

      1. Both the friend & my son didn’t want to go upper bunk, end up one sleep lower bunk & the other air mattress on floor.

  5. My husband built some bunk beds for our two boys when they were 1 1/2 and 2 1/2, and they accomodate the crib mattresses, have railings, a ladder with flat steps vs ladder wrungs, and it bolts to the wall. And, as we have moved 3 times in about 3 years, he built them to be easily collapsed with the removal of some key components, however they are strong enough to support 3 boys who are about 4 years old sitting on them. And it only cost him about $40 to make them. I have to say they are pretty awesome!

    1. Wow Lana, you married a pretty creative and handy man there! Built with sense and love, I like that! And wow, what a frugal cost! It’s true, bunks can be costly, maybe he should go into business!!

    1. I know Doreen, we hardly have room for a dresser for the twins with their bed in there, bunks would really make sense for them. Even though, Mommy’s scared about falls….
But still, would be nice to fit a couple more pieces in that room and make it more functional.

  6. I so love these rooms, the first and second are my fave, but I must say I would have loved any of them when I was a child. My kids had the old clunky Maple ones, sturdy and comfy but certainly not attractive like these…lol.

  7. These room are so cool my boys would love having a room like one of these .. and my 4 & 6 year old girls would probably love them too

  8. Brent built the kids their bunk beds…the boringish camping style you mentioned – though I love them…but not nearly enough as I love the ones you have posted…And the room next to theirs would be perfect…..
