A Few Days Spent in Bliss

This past week I was in Toronto attending the 2nd annual BlissDom Canada Conference, this time bigger and better than ever. It was held at the Hilton Toronto, the perfect venue for such a conference. The rooms were great and there was plenty of room for 350 of Canada’s top women in social media to connect in one place. Better than last years, the Hilton Toronto was spacious enough for meeting rooms, the expo hall area and for our dining during breakfast and lunch.

During the Blissdom Canada Conference, were the expected sessions to attend, yet it was the parties and camaraderie that had me smiling during my time there. On Thursday night was the Collective Bias Canada Launch party with Mars | Philter. I have been apart of this community for years and now excitingly and the new Canadian Consultant with Collective Bias/Social Fabric here in Canada. The party was a good opportunity to welcome them with open arms, quite literally. I got to meet a few of the key players for the first time, having talked with them online for so long. It’s an exciting start to real shopper media here in Canada, a different yet brilliant partnership with consumers & bloggers and brands.

Then, we headed to the official pre-conference party, held at CBC Live. It was a red carpet event which kicked off the 2011 conference, with food, drinks, music, and CBC celebrities! I had met Dwight Drummond, Craig Norris, Arisa Cox, Mamma Yamma and designers extraordinaire Steven and Chris at the CBC Event I attended in the Spring, yet it was nice to see them all again.

I was sponsored to attend the Blissdom Canada 2011 Conference by none other than Fisher-Price! On Friday morning, we met with the Mom Central Canada ladies {love them to bits!}, and all the #FisherPriceMoms to get behind the scenes information on Fisher-Price’s 2012 marketing initiatives. It’ll be an exciting year for Fisher-Price, make sure to read more about what’s going on with the group in my previous FisherPriceMoms blog post.

Fisher-Price was also a sponsor for the event, and had a really fun booth at the conference as well. Many toys, information, swag and laughter!

Brands also in attendance was Philips, Healthy Choice Gourmet Steamers, GM, President’s Choice Financial, Kelloggs, Step 2 and Corel. Many of the PR reps at these booths were ones that I have worked with for years here on My Organized Chaos. I cannot tell you how great it is to finally meet face-to-face, after chatting through emails for years. Let’s just say between seeing friends and fellow bloggers and PR reps constantly, there were many hugs to be seen at Blissdom!

Friday night brought the #MabelBliss party, and each year Julie Cole puts on a great show! We all enjoyed Mabel’tinis made by the uber-fabulous Cocktail Deeva, and took the time to chat, mingle and pf course – hug some more.

As I sit here now thinking about the 2011 Blissdom Canada conference, I always relish in the fact that it’s so great to connect with others in social media, in a group setting. You get that valuable connection and inspiration that lingers for some time after the event has ended. What I take home most is the chance to talk and share ideas with other bloggers, both the frustrations and our accomplishments. We are a strong force, and sometimes that gets forgotten in the chaos of life. It only takes a few days spent in bliss to remind ourselves of what we have done and where we are going in the future.

Heres to Blissdom Canada 2011 and all the great memories you gave me. See you in 2012!

    1. I know…I miss you too, Tara. Wish we didn’t live with a whole country between us

  1. I miss you too! 🙁 We didn’t get nearly enough snuggle time!!!

It’s amazing when you realize how much love between a bunch of people can be shared in just a years time. When online worlds collide with offline…. it’s AMAZING but yes… sad at the same time because of the actual physical distance between us.

I hear there are cheap flights between Kitchener and Calgary from time to time….
