I personally can’t make this one too often, because I’d literally end up eating the entire pan like I do these Iced Caramel Brownies. So, here’s your warning now – take that as either a good or bad thing. Yet it is a recipe that highly deserves to be tried, there’s no doubt there.

Rich, fudgy chocolate brownie combined with gooey caramel and served with ice-cream – I’m not sure there’s a better dessert out there.

Salted Caramel Skillet Brownies is the ultimate in salted caramel, the sweet and salty taste is simply amazing! If you need another salted caramel recipe, try these Chocolate Salted Caramel Cupcakes.

I adore brownies to satisfy my chocolate craving, this recipe and these Mint Chocolate Brownies do just that.

When deciding on a dessert, I can’t help but be swayed to the chocolate-side. It’s a weakness that I know many can relate to.

Yet, to bring chocolate over the edge, add in that salted caramel and you just can’t resist. At all.

Salted Caramel Skillet Brownies - sweet and salty, crisp and soft, warm and cold. Opposing tastes and textures truly make this epic dessert recipe.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter, melted
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • ⅔ cup cocoa powder
  • 1 cup flour
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • ¼ cup salted caramel topping {store bought or your favorite homemade recipe}, plus more for topping
  • ice cream for topping, optional

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 10 or 12 inch cast iron skillet.
  2. In a large bowl, combine melted butter, sugar, eggs, and vanilla. Mix until just combined. Add cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder to bowl; mix to combine, but don’t overmix.
  3. Pour batter into skillet and spread evenly. Drizzle ¼ cup salted caramel over the top, then, using a knife, swirl the caramel into the brownies.
  4. Place in oven and bake for 30-35 minutes. Check at 30 minutes with a toothpick and cook additional minutes if needed. Remove from oven.
  5. Top with additional salted caramel {a little or a lot, up to you!)} and ice cream if desired.

Notes

You can eat this straight out of the skillet {best way, in my opinion}, or you can cut sliced and serve. I recommend using a plastic knife to cut - you get the smoothest cut and you won’t damage your cast iron skillet. Enjoy!
